Swag Patterns In General - A Discussion

When I design swag treatments, I have some points to consider, here they are in order of importance: style, materials, budget, proportion, mounting surface, overlap, swag pattern, and practicality . Every design project has these questions built into it.

Proportions are developed by looking at the drawings and after awhile from experience. The mounting surface for casual swags is either wood, composites or metal. Overlap is a matter of, what effect I want to make from my design and how much of my mounting surface that I want to show. The swag pattern is a statement in itself. As you can see the less overlap the more elegant of flowing the feel is. Filled face patterns are somewhat of an enigma. In a monochromatic schema, they are formal looking, but when I mix several fabric patterns or vary the length of the pattern I can come up with a contemporary design.

Random patterns have the most fascination for me. They offer a barrage of color and style that excites my eyes and satisfies my creative nature. I choose to work with them most often.
