Basic Shapes for Pendant Construction

Triangles are ridged shapes that add either a romantic or a playful feel to pendants.

• Trapezoids are slightly less ridged than triangles and seem more traditional looking.
• Polygons look like box pleated traditional window treatments.
• This polygon seems to be the most traditional looking; It makes designing easy.
• Petal shapes are hard to use. The sides are difficult to use near the end of a treatment.
• This shape like petals is difficult to use. It does give a western flavor to some treatments

There are six basic shapes in my study of pendants. These shapes combine to make a vast array of window treatment ideas. I find that triangles and trapezoids are much more fanciful, while all of the other shapes are more traditional. Triangles which are not symmetrical are the most useful as random pendants and combined together to make a really striking design. I feel most designers will benefit from polygon 2 because it is shaped much like many traditional window treatments. Most people will stay in this safe area. The cutting edge isn't for everyone.
